Only a few days to go to prove your true love by making a spousal contribution to your partner’s super by 30th June.
Underfunding for women in retirement is a personal passion of mine. So many women miss out on years of superannuation contributions due to raising a family. Women who retired in 2016 had an average super balance of $157,000 while men had $271,000. (Source :Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA)).
So one of the best ways to show the love of your life just how committed you are to your future is to make a spousal contribution. If your spouse has earnings below $37,000 you can claim the maximum tax offset of $540 when you contribute $3,000 to his/her super.
